“Something as simple as taking a virtual holiday can offer a brief moment of escapism at a time when we can’t guarantee a lengthier reprieve. This allows an outlet for the stress we are facing, and the energy to re-engage with life in these uncertain times.”Although social restrictions are easing and intrastate travel bans are lifting, amid the uncertainty and despair of this global pandemic, escapisms still prove more important than ever. “The coping process of escapism is common to many people in difficult times, and by wanting to still book a holiday, we are actively engaging in escapism behaviour. Escape is key in our mental self-care, and it can be good to seek a happy escape when things seem impossible – that feeling of needing to get away." It was reinforced that the entire process behind a holiday inevitably contributes to well-being; from the excitement of choosing a destination and accommodation, researching sights and restaurants, to the actual holiday itself, then followed by the recollection of treasured memories. The virtual holiday downloads are available to access here on Matt’s website: matthale.com.au/virtualholiday All you need to do is sit down in a quiet and comfortable spot, close your eyes and listen to Matt’s soothing words, visualising the holiday destination and entering a state of relaxation. After mesmerising Perth with his performances at Fringe World Festival earlier this year, WA’s own star hypnotist Matt Hale has just released five free audio downloads, taking listeners on a virtual holiday from the comfort of their own homes.
Whether it be escaping to the beach, the mountains, taking a ski trip, a road trip, or visiting a family theme park, through a series of five free self-hypnosis sessions your next holiday is only a listen away.
As author of Mindhacking Happiness and a TEDx speaker, Matt seeks to empower people with the ability to spirit their minds away, taking time for the relaxation and release that would be experienced as if they were actually on holiday. As an avid traveller with a knowledge of the human psyche, he explains that holidays play a huge part in our mental health and wellbeing.
