Set to go ahead from 22 - 25 April in 2021, the first-ever Pinot Picnic will be a four-day celebration of all things pinot, featuring an exciting program of pinot-inspired events showcasing the region's finest local produce. Expect marron and truffles paired with regional pinot wines, with varieties spanning from sparkling pinot to pinot rosé and of course, the region's hero, pinot noir.
Set against a backdrop of stunning Karri Forest country, events include picnics amongst the vines, sparkling soirées, virtual wine tasting and wine-matching dinners. You can check out the full program here.
For those of us who can’t travel to attend the inaugural Pinot Picnic taking place in the Southern Forests region of Manjimup and Pemberton, you can order your very own hamper of local wine and produce from the region, delivered right to your door.
Offered alongside the event, Pinot Picnic Hampers are now on sale to pinot-lovers in Australia and Singapore. They are selling fast and will only be available while stocks last, so order yours here and have it home-delivered. The hampers have been carefully curated with a selection of Southern Forests regional pinot and local produce such as macadamias, honey, truffle and apple products, and include Pinot Picnic Plumm outdoor stemless wine glasses, designed to enhance the wine-tasting experience.
Choose between small and large hampers, suitable for two and four respectively. Small hampers ($176.90) come with two bottles of wine, five gourmet food products and two glasses, and large hampers ($289.10) come with four bottles, eight gourmet treats and four glasses. The prices include GST and shipping.
For our many Australian subscribers in Singapore missing their local pinot favourites, the good news is that the hampers are also available for delivery to Singapore. Singapore Pinot Picnic Hampers also come in small and large, with a selection of the best pinot wines from wineries such as Below & Above, Woodgate Wines and Lost Lake. Both hampers come with a delicious paired picnic spread by Lush Platters and can be ordered here.
Larry Jorgensen, CEO of the Wine Industry Association WA, commented that the hampers put the local flavours of the Southern Forests in front of a wider domestic and international audience and are a great platform for local businesses to showcase their incredible products.
The Southern Forests region of Manjimup and Pemberton is Australia's premium cool climate wine region and the leading pinot region in WA, known for producing quality, expressive wines. The cooler temperatures and rich soils produce some of Australia's finest pinot wines, as well as over 50 different types of fruits and vegetables, nuts, and artisanal gourmet products such as marron and the internationally-acclaimed black truffle.
