The Boab Festival is back for its 62nd year and is a must-visit in Derby. This year has lots of events, fantastic sponsors and a hard-working committee. With events from long table dinners to basketball carnivals and even their very own Mardi Gras, there will be something for the whole family at the Boab Festival during the July school holidays. Celebrate the West Kimberley lifestyle with Derby hospitality, and book tickets for Festival events here.
Mowanjum Festival
Jul 8
This festival is a celebration of the Ngarinyin, Woddordda, and Wunambal peoples, and a chance to learn about and explore their culture, tradition, and heritage. Included will be a series of workshops, an open art gallery and an opportunity to visit the Mowanjum Museum. From 6pm on the evening, the Corroboree and Junba performances by the Mowanjum community and special guests will begin - don't miss out, and get your tickets here.
Broome Chilli Festival

Returning for its fourth year, the Broome Chilli Festival is a surefire way to spice up your trip to the Kimberley. See all events and more, here.
Broome Shinju Matsuri Festival

Bigger than ever, this 16 day program of events revels in the joy of all the things that enthral our senses, including sight, sound, and most of importantly taste. Festival highlights include a Chinatown feast, with the finest Broome cuisine made by a collaboration of talented local chefs, and a Floating Lantern Matsuri experience during the sunset over Gantheaume Beach. Celebrate the heritage and history of Broome, with gourmet dining, cultural tours, art exhibitions & performances, all apart of Shinju Matsuri. Get in quick to grab tickets to the Festival here.
Staircase to the Moon
Roebuck Bay, Broome
Although not an event, this beautiful natural phenomenon is a must-see when travelling north. The full moon rises over the tidal flats of Roebuck Bay, creating a staircase effect that has to be seen to be believed. This event happens only three days out of every month, with July's dates lining up with the 14th, 15th and 16th. There's even a night market where you can eat, drink, shop, and hear awesome local live music. Find out more here.
