Le Dîner en Blanc, the secret and exclusive picnic made famous in Paris, is returning to Perth for the 5th anniversary of its outdoor dinner on November 7. If you haven’t heard of Le Dîner en Blanc before, it’s best described as a white-themed, long table pop-up dinner in a secret Perth location. As per tradition, guests are required to wear strictly all white and bring along white dinner table furniture (no cream or ivory allowed!), which makes for an aesthetically pleasing sea of white for guests and passers-by. We are happy to announce that Le Dîner en Blanc has released a strictly limited second release of tickets, with sales ending Monday, November 2 at midnight. Score them here. The location of the dinner changes every year, and is kept under wraps until the very last minute. Guests will meet at a designated departure location close to the dinner’s actual location until just minutes before the dinner commences and guests are whisked off to the secret spot. Upon arriving, guests will have a bit of time to set up their table before the traditional group waving of a white cloth napkin at sunset to mark the commencement of dinner. As nothing is set up prior to guests arriving, the secret can’t be spoiled by accidentally stumbling upon the spot beforehand. Dinner-goers can bring their own picnic basket or pre-order a French-inspired picnic hamper online to collect on the day. Sadly, BYO is not allowed due to government regulations, however Champagne and wine can also be pre-ordered online. Plus, you'll need to bring along everything you need to dine, including a square folding-table and two white chairs, a white picnic basket and/or bag including a gourmet meal for two, a white tablecloth and cloth-napkins, cutlery, dishware, glassware and a garbage bag. Le Dîner en Blanc was accidentally established in Paris back in 1988, when a Frenchman invited a group of friends to share a gourmet meal in a Paris park, and asked them to all wear white so as to easily find each other. Fast forward to 2020 and the event has expanded to over 80 cities across the world, each following the traditions of the original dinner. These traditions include the lighting of thousands of sparklers once dinner is wrapped up to initiate dancing under moonlight and mingling amongst guests, as well as the trumpet sounding to let everyone know to pack up their belongings and head home. Le Dîner en Blanc is on Saturday, November 7. You must be invited to attend; to join the list and receive your invite, head here. Tickets are $62 with a mandatory $15 Dîner en Blanc International membership fee, which guarantees an invitation next year.
