A new era for Australian Test Cricket begins this summer as Australia takes on our trans-Tasman rivals New Zealand in Perth’s first Day-Night Test Match.
Treating the 20/20 match against Pakistan earlier this month as a warm up, the Domain test against New Zealand is set to be a historic occasion.
Optus Stadium will be hosting the first set of back-to-back tests against NZ this summer before they head to the MCG and SCG over east. The Domain Day-Night Test against The Black Caps will start Thursday, December 12 and runs until Monday, December 16. This is quite a momentous event for cricket in WA as it will be the first time that the people of Perth get to experience a test in the evening.

The Pink Ball is ideal for night tests as makes for better visibility and control under the flood lights. Optus Stadium are also going above and beyond for members and fans. For the Domain Day-Night test, a section of the stadium will be converted into the Boundary Beach Club. Fans need only attend the match wearing their best beach attire for the chance to be upgraded to the Boundary Beach Club.*
Described as “the best seat in the house”, it is set to be “the ultimate West Aussie Summer experience”, where lucky fans will get a chance to cool off in an outdoor pool, under an umbrella and relax right on the field. This exclusive, Cricket experience can only be found at Optus Stadium, with opportunities to win during all days of the test. The deal hosting the Domain Night Test against NZ was an advantageous grab for Perth, as put by Tourism Minister Paul Papalia: "To secure a night Test match is a major coup - creating a fantastic atmosphere for spectators, attracting and engaging a global audience”.
