As the 2024/25 season approaches, there is a real sense of anticipation surrounding Perth Glory. This season is more than just another campaign—it is the start of Perth Glory’s resurgence. The team is focused on reclaiming its place as a competitive force in the A-League.

The investment in fresh players and the appointment of coach David Zdrilic signal the club’s commitment to success. Zdrilic’s vision is to build a team that not only competes but dominates, both at home and away. With his fresh tactical approach, combined with the arrival of talented signings, there is a new buzz around the club.

While this season is about rebuilding, the blend of experience and youth gives fans plenty to be excited about. This is a new era for the club, and this squad has the potential to bring the heat back to Perth as they look to Reignite Glory this season!

Perth Glory 2024/25 goalkeepers: a strong foundation

The last line of defence for Perth Glory looks solid, starting with Oli Sail. Having gained significant experience with the New Zealand national team, Sail is known for his leadership on the pitch and his reflexive shot-stopping. His presence in goal will be a source of calm and organization for the team, which is crucial as they aim to tighten up defensively after last season’s struggles.

Cameron Cook, while younger and still developing, offers a different kind of energy. Quick off his line and showing exciting potential, Cook will be hungry to challenge Sail and secure more game time this season. The healthy competition between these two goalkeepers could push both to new levels and strengthen Glory’s defensive foundations.

Perth Glory 2024/25 defenders: stability meets youthful energy

The defensive unit has undergone some significant changes, and the backline now has a blend of experience and youth. Josh Risdon, a fan favourite returning to Perth, will play a key role. Risdon’s impact goes beyond his technical ability—he brings leadership, experience, and an intimate knowledge of the club, having already played a significant role in previous seasons.

Risdon’s strengths lie in his versatility and energy. He is known for his exceptional work rate, constantly running up and down the flank to support both defense and attack. Defensively, Risdon is reliable, strong in one-on-one situations, and possesses a great sense of positioning, making him difficult to get past. His tackling ability and awareness will be crucial for a Perth side looking to tighten up at the back

Another exciting addition is Luis Cangá, the Ecuadorian defender who brings international experience and calmness under pressure. Cangá’s ability to read the game and his physical strength will be invaluable as the team looks to improve its defensive record from last season. Alongside him, Luke Bodnar and Riley Warland are set to build on their previous campaigns, with Bodnar’s solid presence and Warland’s versatility being key assets for the team.

Additionally, young talents like Andriano Lebib and Zach Lisolajski bring youthful enthusiasm, and this will be a critical year for them to gain experience and further develop their game.

Perth Glory 2024/25 midfield: the engine room

The midfield will be the heartbeat of Perth Glory’s play this season, and at the center of it is Brandon O’Neill. O’Neill returns to Perth Glory for the 2024/25 season, bringing a wealth of experience, leadership, and tactical intelligence to the pitch. Known for his ability to break up play, his defensive awareness will be crucial in shielding Perth’s backline and disrupting opposition attacks. His experience with both Perth Glory and other A-League clubs, along with international stints, has cemented him as one of the most dependable midfielders in the league

O’Neill’s influence extends beyond his defensive qualities. His range of passing, from sharp short passes to long diagonals, will be key to orchestrating play and launching attacks from deep areas. This passing ability, combined with his leadership on and off the pitch, makes O’Neill a central figure in the team’s rebuilding efforts under the Reignite Glory campaign

Taras Gomulka offers a blend of tactical intelligence and defensive strength. His ability to protect the backline while distributing the ball efficiently will be crucial as Perth looks to maintain balance in the centre of the park. Also, Nicholas Pennington, another new arrival, is expected to bring energy and versatility and be able to fit into various roles across the midfield.

Young players like Trent Ostler and Jaylan Pearman will also be looking to make their mark this season, and the depth in midfield could allow for tactical flexibility throughout the campaign. Ostler’s technical skills and willingness to take risks make him a player to watch, especially when Perth needs to unlock defenses. Known for his strong tackling and ability to read the game, Pearman could be crucial in matches where Perth needs to maintain control in the middle of the park.

Perth Glory 2024/25 forwards: rebuilding the firepower

If Perth Glory is going to climb back up the table, the attack will need to deliver consistently. Fortunately, Adam Taggart, the team’s main goal-scoring threat, is in top form. Last season’s Golden Boot winner, Taggart remains one of the most lethal strikers in the A-League. His finishing and positioning make him a nightmare for defenders, and he will once again lead the line for Glory this season.

Supporting him is David Williams, who brings experience, pace, and creativity to the forward line. Williams can play across multiple attacking positions, and his link-up play with Taggart will be key to unlocking stubborn defences.

There is also plenty of excitement surrounding young forwards like Joel Anasmo, Khoa Ngo, and Cristian Caicedo Castillo. These young guns offer pace, flair, and unpredictability, which could add a new dimension to Perth’s attack. Nathanael Blair is another promising talent with the ability to stretch defences with his athleticism and direct style of play.

Perth Glory 2024/25 new arrivals: fresh faces ready to fire

Josh Risdon, as mentioned, returns to the team with his trademark defensive resilience and overlapping runs. His leadership at the back will be crucial in organising a new-look defence.

Brandon O’Neill and Nicholas Pennington are key midfield acquisitions. O’Neill’s experience and ability to break up play will be vital for Perth’s midfield, while Pennington brings versatility and a dynamic presence in the middle of the park. Taras Gomulka also joins the team, offering a more defensive option with strong ball-winning abilities.

In attack, Cristian Caicedo Castillo, a Colombian forward, adds flair and finishing, while Abdelelah Faisal, a young, hungry striker, will be looking to develop and break into the first team. These new signings are set to complement the established stars, giving Perth a more balanced and competitive squad.
