We’ve been blessed with some balmy summer evenings over the last few weeks, which means it’s the perfect time to sprawl out on a blanket or beanbag at one of Perth’s awesome outdoor cinemas. From hidden gardens to lush park lawns to Northbridge rooftops, these are the most relaxing movie experiences you’ll find this summer.

Luna Outdoor

One of Perth’s most iconic outdoor cinemas, from Perth's original independent cinema group, walking into the private garden tucked behind the Luna feels like stepping into a fairy tale. It’s the perfect place for a more intimate movie experience, complete with their famous, perfectly salted popcorn. Head to the Luna for indie and foreign films you won't find anywhere else - like their famous interactive screenings of The Room.

Camelot Outdoor Cinema in Mosman Park

Camelot Outdoor Cinema

Once again coming from the folks at Luna, the Camelot Outdoor Cinema in Mosmon Park is a hidden treasure. Arrive early to the idyllic art-deco venue for some pre-show jazz, then head to the fully licensed bar for fresh pizza and a cold drink.

Kookaburra Outdoor

Watch a move under the stars in the Perth Hills, with the beautiful forest providing a backdrop which heightens any film experience. Bring a deckchair down or book a table, and enjoy food and drinks from the kiosk on site or food vans on weekends. It's a hidden gem!

Telethon Community Cinemas

Telethon Community Cinemas are back for the summer, set to run in Burswood, Murdoch, ECU Joondalup Pines and Bassendean. Come enjoy the evening with friends and family, all for a good cause! If picnics aren’t your thing, you can order a pizza, cheese board goodies or have a sausage sizzle for an easy way to keep the family happy and full.

Moonlight Cinema

From Perth’s most gorgeous park comes one of Perth’s most relaxing movie experiences. Take a stroll through historic King’s Park, check out the breathtaking view of the CBD from up above, then settle down on the lush grass for brand new blockbuster or an old favourite. Make sure to pack a picnic and a blanket in case the temperature drops!

Rooftop Movies

Forget rooftop bars, now you can catch all your favourite flicks from the top of a six-story building. Colourful beanbags, fairy lights, and a disco-ball will make you feel like you’ve stepped into a giant blanket-fort as you watch cult classics beneath the stars. Try your best to keep your eyes on the movie instead of the spectacular view of Perth’s cityscape!
