Telethon Community Cinemas are back for the summer, set to run in Burswood, Murdoch, ECU Joondalup Pines and Bassendean. The series is family friendly and run by over 700 volunteers, with all profits donated to kids charities - nearly $10 million has been donated to charity over its lifetime. Burswood, Joondalup and Murdoch all open officially Nov 26, with Bassendean opening its doors a little later on Dec 10.
You can bring your own picnic food and seating, and enjoy the summer evening with friends and family, and all for a good cause. If picnics aren’t your thing, you can order a pizza along with your tickets, as well as picking out a bean bag lounge or a cheese pack full of essential cheese board goodies. Burswood also runs a nightly sausage sizzle for an easy way to feed the family. The venues are all fully licensed, with a whole range of alcoholic drinks available to purchase on site to pair with your movie of choice.
Kicking it all off a little early is a free sing-along screening of The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert at the Burswood venue, as part of PrideFEST 2020, complete with prizes for the best dressed and a Priscilla Drag Race.
Other movies screening include new films such as Misbehaviour, The Broken Hearts Gallery, The Secret Garden and The High Note. Alongside these are special screenings of favourites like Moulin Rouge, The Greatest Showman, The Muppet Christmas Carol, The Nightmare Before Christmas and Love Actually.
For fans of Prog Rock, don’t miss the special event, A Night with Pink Floyd at Burswood, screening the 1982 musical film The Wall, based on the 1979 Album of the same name, including a live performance under the stars by local supergroup Us and Them.
