Be prepared to transcend the bounds of outer space with the kids this summer holidays as Spare Parts Puppet Theatre launches the New Year with an acclaimed production of The Little Prince. An interstellar adventure based on the timeless classic by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, the production opens on Jan 13 to Feb 1 for a highly-anticipated run at the Fremantle playhouse. Associate Director of Spare Parts and director of the production, Michael Barlow, said that The Little Prince is an adventure story that celebrates the things that give our lives meaning: “The story is about what really matters in life, the people we form relationships with and our capacity to dream and imagine,” he said. “The Little Prince conjures a special magic for audiences.” For over 70 years, this timeless story has brought joy to children and adults alike with its tale of a prince who travels through the stars to arrive on Earth. The remarkable story of The Little Prince comes to life at the hands of the incredibly experienced artists at Spare Parts. The set design ingeniously reveals the world of the Prince - from starry night skies to the dunes of the desert, and even a life- size aeroplane. Flawless hand - carved puppets of the Fox, Snake, Rose and Little Prince are sure to leave an impressionable impact on audiences, and resound in their imaginations long after the curtain falls. The production also boasts an exquisite musical score and transfixing performances from Kylie Bywaters (The Night Zoo) and Shane Adamczak (Miss Lily’s Fabulous Feather Boa). At 45 minutes, this rich story with masterful puppetry is perfect for ages five and above, and is bound to engage  older children and teens, as well as adults.
