Got anything planned for the WA Day Long weekend? If you’ve not been organised enough to book a trip away, there’s lots of exciting events on in Perth from June 4 – 7. Here’s a handful of some of the top things to do in the city over the WA Day weekend.

Enjoy a Bottomless Brunch

Why not start off your long weekend the right way with a bottomless brunch? There are plenty of options to explore, with cafes across Perth offering their own interpretation. Elitists of the brunch game Tiisch know how to set the bar high, with a mini appetiser to start you off and then a hearty breakfast with your choice of free-flowing drink. Book a table for $70pp or $55pp if you are going dry. If rooftop views are more you style, head to Prince Lane Bar's rooftop on Saturday June 5 and indulge in one of their delicious breakfast options with your choice of free-flowing drink at $59 a head. For those who love their Rosé, The Garden in Leederville’s ever-popular Bottomless Rosé brunches are a great option; relax and while away your Saturday with 2 hours of bottomless Rosé along with 4 courses for lunch for $85pp. Check out more awesome brunch spots here.

Take part in some family activities at the WA Shipwrecks Museum

On Sunday June 6 the WA Shipwrecks Museum will be hosting an assortment of free family-friendly events. Head there between 12pm - 4pm for a fun craft workshop, where you'll learn about the Noongar Six Seasons and create a beautiful cushion cover inspired by them. Watch talented Indigenous artist Liz Narkle create stunning sand artwork on the lawn, representing WA’s coastal region. While you are visiting the museum, you can also check out the Ocean Meets Land exhibition currently on display. This exhibition features spectacular work that ranges across a multitude of disciplines from paintings to mosaics, all influenced and inspired by Fremantle’s location between land and sea.

Experience a WA Day Festival Corroboree

An event not to be missed as part of the long weekend festivities is the WA Day Festival Corroboree. Performed by internationally-acclaimed Wadumbah Dance Group, the Corroboree will feature dreamtime stories of the Australia’s original inhabitants. Make your way down to Bathers Beach in Fremantle on Sunday June 6 at 5pm to see this stunning display of traditional dance, costume and music.

Live music and cider in the Bickley Valley

If you fancy a cheeky day trip out of the city, consider heading east to the Bickley Valley and exploring the region’s many cider houses. Core Cider will be hosting some festivities over the long weekend, including live music from Darren Gibbs on Sunday afternoon, and Champagne Duo on Monday afternoon. Soak up the sun and head into their orchard bistro to get yourself something to eat or sit in the cider garden for a drink. If you can’t decide on which cider to go for, grab yourself their tasting paddle that comes with five samples for you to try. While you are in the area, pop into Carmel Cider, who recently opened their cellar doors to the public. There, you can sample their award-winning cider or, better yet, grab some friends and enjoy a group tasting. Nearby on Brookton Highway, Naked Apple Cider will be offering spiced mulled cider as a way to usher in the winter.

Autumn Festival

Enjoy the colours at the S&R Orchard Autumn Festival

On from June 5 - 7, the very Instagrammable S&R Orchard are opening their gates for visitors to come and enjoy the magical spectacle of their orchard in Autumn colours. Bring your family and your picnic baskets and spend the day amongst the trees in full autumnal fashion. There will be food stalls, tractor rides, animal rides and a bouncy castle to keep the kids entertained. Plus, pets are welcome, so you can bring your furry friends too and let them loose amongst the leaves.

SOTA Festival 2021

Wrap up your long weekend on Monday, June 7 with WA Day’s popular and free annual music festival, SOTA Rewired. Head down to Burswood Park with family and friends and celebrate WA Day the right way with a huge concert from some top local performers. This year, we are set to again see some amazing Western Australian artists from the likes of Alter Boy, The Little Lord Street Band, Spacey Jane, Theona Councillor, The Waifs and many more. The event starts at 12pm and finishes at 7pm but is recommended to get down early, as due to current safety restrictions, there will be a limited capacity. Grab a bite to eat from the selection of food trucks, and indulge yourself with a cheeky beverage from the bar.
