The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) is recognised nationally and internationally as one of the leading performing arts schools in Australia, and for the quality of its graduates.
Many of the world’s best-known actors, dancers, musicians and music theatre stars have called WAAPA home, including: Hugh Jackman, Frances O’Connor, Marcus Graham, William McInnes, Lisa McCune, Lucy Durack, Rachelle Durkin, Emma Matthews, Jamie Oehlers, Eddie Perfect and Tim Minchin.
Beyond the on-stage stars, the employment record of graduates in extremely competitive fields is outstanding. Our designers, arts management and production graduates are highly sought after and many hold influential positions across a wide range of performing arts companies, festivals, venues, film, television, major events, arts organisations and teaching institutions.
Based on the Mount Lawley campus at Edith Cowan University (ECU), WAAPA continue to provide the most comprehensive range of internationally recognised performing arts training in Australia, with world-class staff and state-of-the-art performance and teaching facilities.
Every year, students, staff and critically-acclaimed guest artists collaborate to present over 300 performances, an incredibly opportunity for the public to experience some of Australia’s great talent and future international success stories. Many performances take place in WAAPA venues at ECU but an increasing number of community partnerships enable performances to take place in external spaces.
Tickets often sell out in advance and are first made available to Friends of the Academy, many of whom enjoy WAAPA performance most weeks of the year, so join now if you want to enjoy the best performances.
