Artworks on show at Artitja Fine Art Gallery this summer.

1 Rosalind Tjanyari
My Country's Energy and Spirit is Everywhere | $2750 Acrylic on canvas, 167x112cm

Artist | Rosalind Tjanyari was born in a little clinic at Indulkana. Her mother and grandmother are Ngangkari (traditional healers). Rosalind's paintings are very influenced by this, and by the healing powers of plants in her country.
Artwork | Rosalind paints the Tali (sandhills). Tali are capable of changing shape – especially during strong wind storms; some people believe that only women can control these winds, by holding their arms in the air.

2 Zakius Tjakamarra Jack
Wilkinkarra (Lake MacKay) | $1420
Acrylic on Belgian linen, 122x71cm

Artist | As an emerging young male Ikuntji artist, Zakius began painting his father's country of Wilkinkarra (Lake MacKay). Zakius Jack has been painting since 2008, and still lives in Haasts Bluff in the western desert.
Artwork | In this work, Zakius simply and elegantly depicts the lake as his late father (Gideon Jack) did during his years painting at Haasts Bluff and Kintore.

3 Jimmy Pompey
Cowboy Story | $810
Acrylic on canvas, 76x51cm

Artist | Jimmy Pompey is from Indulkana in the APY lands, and grew up riding horses and working as a stockman. He taught himself to play country and gospel music, loving the music of Slim Dusty and Hank Williams. His paintings depict his memories of good times and great knowledge of his country.
Artwork | Jimmy Pompey paints his stories about life as a stockman. Such paintings are very important historical tellings of the Indigenous stockmen's lives – they were highly valued and well respected for their work.

4 Janine McAullay Bott
Chitty Bird (Willy Wagtail) | $660
Queen palm fronds, kurrajong seed pod, gum nuts, emu feathers, 30x30x30cm

Artist | Janine McAullay Bott is a national-award-winning fibre textile artist whose works can be found in public and private collections worldwide.
Artwork | Janine's sculptures are inspired by memories of her mother's stories of her Nyoongah culture, and the importance of the land and its people.
