SATEC’s contribution to sustainable technologies at Central Park will ensure it achieves the highest Green Star rating.

Central Park is a multi-stage $2 billion urban village, with a wonderfully diverse collection of residences arising in stages across 8 to 10 years.

With a massive investment in 'green' technologies, including an on-site central thermal tri-generation plant and water recycling plant, Central Park will achieve a minimum 5 Green Stars for each building, and exceptional environmental standards for the entire precinct.

The project is characterised by its rooftop gardens, green walls, solar panels and smart metering systems. On-site water recycling and a central thermal tri-generation plant will reduce carbon emissions, minimise mains water demand, and may export excess water and electricity to nearby neighbourhoods in a remarkable display of self-sufficiency.

The cantilever supports a light-reflecting heliostat system, while the largest en masse vertical garden in the world clads the exterior facades. This heliostat design feature is the first of its kind to be used in a residential context in Australia, and the largest of its type in the world used in an urban environment.

The developers required a high-accuracy, Class 0.5s, direct-connect compact smart metering system for monitoring electricity and water consumption. SATEC meters were selected by the developers because they were the smallest, most accurate meters available in the market that were suitable for installations within each apartment. The selected smart meter was to be installed in all apartments within existing small spaces, and required din-rail mounted hardware.

A special algorithm was requested to be designed for the project, and was delivered by SATEC. The SATEC smart meter performs integrated consumption profiling for energy and water consumption daily, weekly, monthly or quarterly. This special algorithm allows consumers to monitor consumption habits in a 'smart profile', enabling more aware decisions based on information available to tenants continually, in real time.
