Running as part of this year's Perth Festival, Art Feast is a decadent feast for the senses, pairing performance art, film, light and atmospheric live music with a themed dinner to create an immersive art experience that is one of a kind.
Art Feast is a marriage of two of life's greatest indulgences, food and art. A stunning work of performance art, tickets for Art Feast are split into two categories - high and low - with ticket types determining your status at the show, whether it be that of peasant or lord.
'High' ticket holders ascend the stairs to the seated balcony tables, where they are served a six-course degustation dinner and a glass of sparkling. Meanwhile, holders of 'low' tickets are seated on low plastic chairs close to the action onstage, and line up to enjoy a feast from buffet tables. As the courses are served to the 'high' tables, performers enter the stage and provide the evening's entertainment, fittingly suited to the event's theme.
In terms of the food, Double Rainbow chef Danny Sanchez and his team have created a degustation filled with surprise, where each dish is paired with a matching performance. The buffet table, on the other hand, is bountiful with piles of potato salad, charcoal steamed buns or truffle rice and either roasted duck or pork belly. Low ticket holders can help themselves to their dinner during the course of the performance.

Because all good things come in pairs, Art Feast offers up two distinct shows - The Darkness and The Light. The shows are different and show-goers are encouraged to see both to experience the full feast.
Running from Mar 3 - 7, The Darkness is a fever-dream of decadence and depravity that speaks to our current age of mindless consumption. It's a debauched cabaret show, where the host wears a glitzy big bird costume and chants 'Let them eat cake' before sombrely reciting a well-known tale of gluttony to those stuffing their faces both above and below. The show is amplified by an eerie backdrop of live music from classical instrumentalists, and a video projection featuring the performance artists involved in the evening's show. The result is dark, erotic and sometimes unsettling.
Offering a fitting contrast for the previous week of Darkness shows, The Light is presented as a revelation and celebration, as light is let back into The Rechabite's hall space. Diners will enjoy their meals beneath a huge rotating glitter chandelier, as the hall is flooded with light, music and good vibes.
Expect five nights of live music (March 10 - 14) from a stellar line-up of local talent, including Joel Davis, Felicity Groom, Joni in the Moon, Grace Barbé, Queency, and many more. The program, curated by local music heroes Abbe Maye and Ofa Fotu, is designed to set spirits soaring to ethereal heights (a stark contrast to the hellish debauchery of the previous week's entertainment). Aerial superstars Elke Uhd and Beau Sargent, who gave an incredible, twisted performance in The Darkness, will return for their interpretation of The Light.
Art Feast runs March 3 - 14 at The Rechabite. Grab tickets here or from the Perth Festival website here.
