Showing respect and sensitivity to its coastal environment, this home’s perceptive design and natural finishes prove to be a winner.
ESPERANCE
This award-winning home is the result of endless hours spent by the owners and building designer, Robert Forgione, perfecting the design to ensure all the clients' lifestyle requirements were satisfied.
With the home situated on the Esperance coast, the design needed to give strong consideration to the harsh climate conditions, in particular the region's strong winds.
Built of brick and stainless steel, the four-bedroom, two-bathroom home has two alfresco areas, one overlooking the pool and the other located at the rear of the home.
Other rooms worked into this design include an office, activity room and cellar, all of which exploit natural materials such as timber flooring and an extensive use of stonework – the majority of the latter being sourced from the owner's farm.
The beautiful, natural environment was to be capitalised by the design of this home, taking full advantage of the island and beach views from most windows of the south-facing property. The inclusion of double glazing allows an uninterrupted outlook, and also maximises natural light.
Fixtures and fittings are of the best quality, further enhanced with a C-Bus automation system, intercom and sound system.
This property won Great Southern Home of the Year: Custom Built Home of the Year $450,001 and over at the HIA Great Southern Housing Awards 2014, the judges citing it as "extremely well designed and beautifully built, with all the comforts you could ever need".
