Taking advantage of Broome’s tropical weather, this Balinese-inspired home boasts a resort atmosphere all year round.
BROOME
Situated in Cable Beach, Broome, this home was designed and built by the CWD team, and won MBA Country Home Of The Year for the Kimberley/Pilbara region.
The clients' key requirement was to be able to enjoy Broome's tropical climate by taking advantage of cross ventilation and open-plan living, in a house designed around a luxurious resort-type atmosphere. The home is located in the popular Sunset Rise estate, and is situated on a 730sqm block.
Entry to the home is through solid, carved-timber gates set in a thatched roof gatehouse, leading to a feature Balinese-inspired granite paved courtyard.
Bi-fold doors occupy both walls of the large open-plan living and dining areas, promoting the required cross ventilation.
The doors lead directly out to the huge undercover outdoor living area, which features timber decking and a timber-lined ceiling. Glass balustrading has been used to provide uninterrupted views of the pool. Flanking the pool are a separate guest bedroom pavilion and an outdoor kitchen area, which continues the Balinese theme with its exposed timbers and thatched roof.
The home also includes a double lock-up garage, study, and three further bedrooms in the main part of the house. Rendered walls feature throughout the home, providing a sleek, seamless finish to the residence, and a low-maintenance solution to the external walls, resulting in a change from the standard Broome vernacular.
