MOUNT LAWLEY
It's hard to believe this charming and modern Federation-style kitchen was once a dark and dated space, closed off from the rest of the home.
Once again going above and beyond to exceed his client's expectations, Klever Kitchens' owner Sergio transformed this home's kitchen into a spectacular Hamptons-style design, cleverly divided into four working areas that flow together beautifully.
The brief was to create a kitchen that combined the timeless glamour of Hamptons and Federation-style homes with a modern edge.
It also set out to make use of the impressive 12-foot ceiling height, and elements of symmetry in the room. On Sergio's second visit to this early 20th century home, he shared his vision with the clients to remove the wall that separated the small kitchen from the dining room, and turn it into one large open-plan area, filled with natural light.
When the wall had been removed, Sergio and the clients sat together in awe of the newly created space, and knew even then they were onto something special.
The brief was then achieved by retaining the stunning architectural cornices, and using classic chessboard black-and-white tiles. Crown mouldings were added to the overhead cabinets, a butler-style sink employed, and timber scrolls applied on the rangehood cabinet and existing fireplace.
A modern twist came about with the use of a 40mm square-edge profile on the Caesarstone Calacatta Nuvo benchtops, matching stone splashbacks, modern industrial pendant lights above, and the latest glass light switches and power outlets. To incorporate the Hamptons theme, Sergio selected antique white shaker doors, drawers and panels, fitted with satin chrome knobs and shell handles.
The cooking area also provides visual delight, with an Italian-designed Milan 900 freestanding oven, its undermount rangehood hidden in the overhead cabinet.
Klever Kitchens also provided the clients with a wealth of storage space, even integrating a pull-out corner unit and pantry to make the most of every nook
and cranny. Featuring a bar, kitchen, study recess and dining area all in one, this carefully designed kitchen is both stunning and practical, allowing multiple people to work in the area at once.
