The team at Livingscapes thrives on transforming exteriors into new living spaces as unique as its clients.

Livingscapes grew from a love of architecture and plants, combined with the belief that through innovative design, site research and client consultation, inspirational indoor and outdoor livings spaces can be created that reflect the form and function specific to the residents.

Principal manager Tracey Penkethman designs, constructs and project-manages each client's new outdoor living space from start to finish.Livingscapes' design services also include 2D plans and 3D visualisations, site survey plans and elevations, all council approval submissions, and electrical, lighting and reticulation plans.

CITY BEACH

The owners of this City Beach property had recently renovated the home's interior and wanted to create unity between inside and out, while building an outdoor tropical haven in which to entertain throughout summer. The final design also needed to be low-maintenance and contemporary in style.

With the site posing dramatic level changes between 1.5 and 2m, the adjoining properties had to be considered when designing the retaining walls on the east and west boundaries. The property undergoing the works also needed extensive retaining, which was carried out in such a way as to create an effective yet functional terraced effect.

The existing pool was given a makeover, with the addition of a three-tiered water feature, tiled in stone and capped with travertine. The pool bullnose continued the travertine theme to give that 'wow' factor.

Exposed aggregate surrounds the pool, beautifully marrying with the 13m-long
mahagony deck. The ceiling of the new alfresco area is lined in white high-gloss timber that contrasts strikingly with the timber deck.

The clients are thrilled with the results and now rarely eat indoors, because the sound of the water feature and their new surrounds provide the best place for eating and entertaining guests.

MELVILLE

The property owners called upon Livingscapes to create a design to complement an extensive renovation of the home's front elevation.

The brief outlined a front living space that combined formal and contemporary styles, with the retention of a very well established liquid amber tree. The sloping lot needed to incorporate space for the kids and enough parking bays for vehicles.

From the initial site inspection, it was evident that the client would be able to maximise the available space far better if specific levels were created, rather than simply keeping the original incline of the site.

Photography Vision Inspired Photography

To retain the existing tree was a slight challenge, but one that Livingscapes was more than willing to tackle. Now the liquid amber provides a fantastic shady space for the children to play under.

The two other levels include a feature limestone blade wall and travertine portico, combined with the exposed aggregate driveway. This combination of textures, along with a subtle green and white planting theme, portrays a calm, uncomplicated style that has abundant class.

Tracey and her team optimised the available space, totally transforming the existing house into a contemporary residence, while utilising a child-friendly design.
