Step on board the latest ocean adventure. The Ovation of the Seas features everything from restaurants and bars to bumper cars and spas. There is so much on offer on the latest, 6 month old, Royal Caribbean cruise ship.
More like a city than a ship, the Ovation of the Seas takes cruising to a new level. I was lucky enough to hop on board when she visited Fremantle and take a special tour of this 6 month old, $1.3 billion luxury liner.
From the moment you step on board, wonders abound. The shopping and restaurant district takes you through to the theatre, the casino, the music hall and the four restaurants. Light shows, amazing art, beautifully appointed cabins, robotic, cocktail serving waiters and so much more.
The four themed restaurants- Silk, Chic, Grande and American Icon Grill- are stunning in their presentation and, with over 200 chefs on board, there is no shortage of wonderful fare. For me, the stand out restaurant was Wonderland. It is decorated with stunning, fantasy style furniture and table settings, and a magical degustation menu, which only appears if you paint it with water. Fantastic for the young, and the young at heart.
If relaxing is what you're into, the Ovation of the Seas offers it all. The multiple pools and the water playground will keep everyone well entertained and, in true resort fashion, the day spa and gym will ensure you feel and look your holiday best for your session in the photography studio.
Feel like a different sort of wind down? Head to the bumper cars. Truly amazing to have on a ship and sure to be a winner all year round - this is definitely a highlight.
There are 8 specialty restaurants serving 150 different dishes daily, on top of the multiple cafes and food shops throughout the ship. On this floating city, the quantities are staggering with the kitchen crew serving up 3,750 dozen eggs over seven days!
The ship itself is 41 metres wide, 347 metres long and has an 18-knot cruising speed. It has 18 decks, over 2,000 staterooms, 1500 international crew, and can carry 4,905 guests.
For pure wow factor, I couldnt' go past the Solarium. Featuring multiple pools, spas and a bar with full glass windows and ceiling which look directly out to the ocean. What a breathtaking way to relax. No two hours are the same - it's a veritable moving feast.
Like most cruise liners, the entertainment line up is very important. Here, there is always something happening with guests spoilt for choice. Whether it be a movie playing in the theatre, a music performance in the music hall, or a creative show in Two70, there is always something to do but it is Two70 which is truly unique. This multi-level venue, fusing entertainment and technology, features a 270-degree panoramic view of the ocean, and the vistarama - floor-to-ceiling glass walls displaying dazzling projections throughout the shows. In all, $12 million worth of technology. Indeed, the Ovation of the Seas is one of the most technologically advanced ships of today.
Whatever way you like to holiday, Ovation of the Seas is sure to have something for you! Go to http://www.ovationoftheseas.com.au to check it out and view its itinerary. Happy Cruising.
