Entering its second year operating within an expanded global model, the Michelin Guide has awarded 22 Australian hotels new Michelin Keys.
Acting as the accommodation version of the famous Michelin Stars, recipients are acknowledged for their excellence through categories like architecture, interior design, quality and consistency of service, overall personality and character, value for the price, and contribution to the setting. Hotels can earn up to three keys, denoting “an extraordinary stay.”
35 Aussie hotels received keys last year, but the 2026 awards have minted 22 new keys for hotels in the Guide, including three promotions for stays that have improved since the 2025 ranking.
Of the 54 Australian keyed properties, three are found right here in WA.
El Questro – The Homestead is one of this year’s new recipients of one key for “a very special stay.” The accommodation is a luxury, all-inclusive lodge within the Kimberley’s El Questro National Park. Suites are cantilevered over the Chamberlain River, with stylish interiors, floor-to-ceiling windows and private decks.
Locally sourced three-course dinners with matching wines are offered for every guest, and experiences within the El Questro National Park are included within the price of accommodation. Head out on a Chamberlain Gorge Cruise, guided walks, use of the Zebedee Thermal Springs, and bush nature and natives tours.
COMO The Treasury retained their 2025 Michelin Key. The five-star hotel is nestled right in the heart of the CBD, blending the old-world grandeur of the historic State Buildings with modern furnishings and design. Visitors needn’t look further than the hotel itself for some of the best dining experiences Perth can offer, with three-hatted Wildflower perched on the rooftop.
Yala Yallingup also remained on the one key list in 2026, rebranding from Empire Spa Retreat late last year. The boutique accommodations set across bushland and vineyard encourage visitors to reconnect away from bustling city, but the spa is the ultimate sanctuary – everything from facials to sound therapy makes a visit worthy of the “very special stay,” title.
