David Haines and Joyce Hinterding’s exhibition is a colourful, unique feast for the senses featuring collaborative projects and solo works from both artists.
Energies showcases digital, experimental, electronic and traditional media, using a range of mediums such as interactive cinema, sound, video, sculpture, smell, photography and drawing to explore the more unusual aspects of life. The two artists have worked together for over 15 years, using this project to explore the unseen energies that surround us. Paranormal events, very low frequency radio waves, television signals, satellite transmissions and intriguingly psychic forces all capture the imagination of the pair. The exhibition works to highlight both the importance of aesthetic and philosophical concerns in their practices, and a longing to share their findings with a wider audience through their creative works. Energies incorporates both art and science in questioning our understanding of the universe as we know it, evoking everyday curiosity across the platforms of electromagnetism, smell, light, vibration and sound. Energies is at PICA Gallery until October 29. Find out more.
