Any month starting off with a long weekend has to have a lot in store for us – and April sure does! Between Easter long weekend, April school holidays and the Anzac Day long weekend, we’re all set to have a bit more time on our hands this month, and all the better to experience the best of Perth’s arts and culture.
Of almost 300+ events to explore, Perth has put together that we’re seriously looking forward to soaking up. Read below to get all the details on our top picks!

Lotterywest Boorloo Heritage Festival
April 1 – 30
For the month of April, over 100 different events across the city allow families to explore the rich culture and history of some of the city’s oldest institutions, precincts, buildings and gardens.
With most of the events being free, there’s never been a better opportunity to spend a day learning about Perth’s heritage – walking tours, panel discussions, exhibitions and more fill out the massive program, providing a comprehensive look at the city not available year-round. Highlights include Moments In The Park, a series of events and activations across iconic Perth green spaces (think live music, theatre, storytelling and picnicking), and the Music In The City talks at Perth Library, where you’ll hear from a panel of music industry veterans about the development of the Perth music scene.

Fremantle International Street Arts Festival
April 3 – 6
Hosted over the Easter long weekend, the Fremantle International Street Arts Festival has been running since 1999, and has since established itself as a premier festival experience – drawing acts from across the globe, 160 free and family-friendly performances spill out into the streets of Fremantle in this year’s program.
Performances span from acrobatics to comedy to circus and live music, with interactive shows like the France-based The Miraculous Theatre Company’s Lil’ Trailer of Horrors (taking place entirely in a caravan!) making their Australian debut.
The Night Show Spectacular will be one to watch – taking place on one night only, bringing together a powerhouse lineup of festival favourites comedians, acrobatics, circus performers and magicians together at the Sail and Anchor Pitch.

OceanXperience
April 4 – October 11
Easter long weekend hits it out of the park with another highly anticipated entry into Perth’s event calendar. Coming off of their biggest exhibition yet with the Terracotta Warriors, WA Museum Boola Bardip welcomes the OceanXperience.
The highly interactive exhibition places visitors inside the working environments of National Geographic’s Ocean Xplorers. Innovative technology meets advanced research in Mission Control, the Wet and Dry Labs, The Bridge and the Sub Hangar, revealing how scientists explore our oceans in a recreation of the most active parts of the real ships.
Large-scale media, interactive experiences and real expedition footage enable visitors to appreciate how innovation aids conservation, becoming real ocean scientists for the day!

Revealed
April 18 – June 14
This eight-week exhibition at the Perth Institute of Contemporary Art (PICA) boasts the title of WA biggest celebration of Aboriginal art.
Over 185 pieces have been entered by over 100 Aboriginal artists representing 28 Aboriginal art centres, all curated by proud Whadjuk, Balladong and Wilman Noongar artist and independent curator Zali Morgan.
From the Kimberley to the South West, audiences will be transported by the variety and depth of the exhibition, spanning from painting to printmaking through to sculpture and weaving. The exhibition provides a major platform for the artists to share their works on a large scale, many of whom are based regionally.
Highlights include the many artist talks and workshops on the calendar throughout the exhibition, and the Revealed 2026 Art Market set for opening day on Saturday, April 18 at WA Museum Boola Bardip. Meet the artists face-to-face, and take solace in knowing you’re supporting authentic and ethical work, with all proceeds returning to their respective artists.

Perth Comedy Festival
April 20 – May 17
