Pretty Woman: The Musical

April 18 – May 10

This one has already kicked off, but there are still shows to catch all the way up to Mother’s Day weekend (perhaps an early present for Mum?).

Featuring direction and choreography from two-time Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell (Kinky Boots, Legally Blonde, Hairspray), an original score by Grammy winner Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance (Summer of ’69, Heaven), and a book by the movie’s director Garry Marshall and screenwriter J.F. Lawton, this musical adaptation has been crafted by some of the best in the business, and those that are intimately familiar with the source material.

The iconic moments are all there, with X-Factor winner and Perth-born Samantha Jade as Vivian, and Neighbours and WAAPA alum Ben Hall as Edward.

Spamalot

May 20 – June 7

It’s just a flesh wound! Spamalot is coming to Planet Royale for a limited run of performances through May and June. “Ripped off” from the cult-classic film Monty Python & The Holy Grail, this musical combines absurd songs, characters and humour for a roaring good time – after all, this was a Best Musical winner at the Tonys.

Footloose: The Musical

Footloose: The Musical

May 29 – June 7

Head to the Regal Theatre to see this 80s hit in action, with a fully remastered production including soundtrack hits (Holding Out For A Hero, Let’s Hear It For The Boy, Footloose) alongside the musical’s original songs.

The classic film is brought to life by the stellar cast, with this run following a sold-out season in Melbourne. This will be a nostalgia trip you won’t want to miss.

June 7 – July 5

The King of Pop’s iconic artistry is back in Perth with MJ: The Michael Jackson Musical , taking over the Crown Theatre this winter. Centring around the making of his 1992 Dangerous World Tour, this musical combines not only his signature music and dance moves, but provides a look behind the curtain on the collaboration and creativity behind the tour.

Plus, there are over 30 hits from the Michael Jackson and Jackson 5 catalogue over the entire performance, making for a night out that you’ll know every word to.

Beetlejuice The Musical

Beetlejuice The Musical

August 16 – September 6

The Crown Theatre will host Beetlejuice The Musical in August, another film-turned-musical that took the world by storm. Broadway’s Andy Karl returns at Beetlejuice, while the acclaimed and award-winning score was written by WAAPA alum Eddie Perfect.

The eccentric teen Lydia Deetz shares her home with newly-deads and demons, creating a musical that’s hilarious, entertaining and life-affirming all in one.

Heathers the Musical

September 30 – October 11

Another cult classic takes over the stage in September with Heathers the Musical at The Regal Theatre.

Based on the movie starring Winona Ryder and Christian Slater, this musical is packed with fun, dark humour and catchy songs that you’ll leave singing and won’t be able to stop. Finishing up in Perth after touring Melbourne, Adelaide, Gold Coast, Canberra and Sydney, the Broadway smash hit will go out with a bang on their final dates of their nationwide run.

The Book of Mormon

October

The recently announced run of The Book of Mormon at the Crown Theatre was long-awaited by musical theatre lovers, given this show’s successful run in Perth in 2019.

The comedy musical follows the misadventures of two Mormon missionaries on their mission to a remote Ugandan village – a nine-time Tony Award winner created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the minds behind South Park, and two-time EGOT winner Robert Lopez. Hilarity combines with sophisticated artistry in what’s been described as “the best musical of this century,” by the New York Times.

Keep an eye on the announcement of the official run dates for this one, as tickets will sell out!
