Exciting news for those of us that have been missing the cinema - Girls School Cinema is set to open July 30, running every Tuesday and Sunday until October 24.
In celebration of Harry Potter's birthday (who turns 40 on July 31), the opening weekend will feature a magical 2-day Harry Potter Marathon featuring all eight movies, quidditch in the courtyard and everyone's favourite dram, Butterbeer. Separated into Part 1 and Part 2, each session runs over the course of 12 hours, with several intermission breaks so you can grab more snacks and explore the atmospheric venue.
Featuring four individual programs, the first release has an epic line-up of cult films, old favourites and award-winning flicks with special events like a monstrous 80’s movie double with Gremlins and Beetlejuice, and a special 45th anniversary screening of the Rocky Horror Picture Show.
The season will also feature a selection of WA short films, bringing local stories to the big screen and supporting Aussie filmmakers. You can expect to see a selection of Australian feature films, including heart-warming drama H is For Happiness and The Australian Dream, the story behind AFL legend Adam Goodes.
Set atop the highest point in East Perth, at Girls School Cinema you can tuck into cheesy pizza from iconic New York style pizzeria Mack Daddy's, and enjoy locally brewed beer from Gage Roads and wine from Margaret River's MadFish winery.
If you purchase a ticket before August 30, you'll also go into the running to win a private screening with friends, with champagne, pizza and bottomless popcorn included.
Tickets are on sale now and start at just $17 for standard admission. You can grab tickets here.
