Not long now until the city comes to life for Fringe World. Each fortnight Scoop Events will bring you a wrap of festival shows worth checking out to help navigate the event's whopping 700+ event program. BUSKER'S WEEKENDER Feb 2-4 A free event in the CBD including street artists, circus performers and crazy acts, running through Hay Street and Murray Street Malls (11am-4pm weekend, 5pm-9pm Friday). It includes seven stages of entertainment. On the Sunday at 11am a Guinness World Record attempt will be made. An acrobat will attempt to break the record for the most number of balls juggled while suspended upside down on a trapeze. PETER ALLEN LIVE IN INVERTED COMMAS Downstairs at The Maj, His Majesty’s Theatre, Perth Feb 6 - 17, 9:00pm, from $36 Share in the glorious music that Peter Allen was most popular for, as well as lesser-known pieces that made up his wide-ranging catalogue. SEEKING BASIC NEEDS AND OTHER TALES OF EXCESS Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts, Northbridge Jan 27 - Feb 17, Various Times, from $20 Take a pathway across Northbridge with a set of headphones and an open mind to hear world-wide tales of struggle, joy and hope as the city comes alive in this immersive sonic storytelling experience. Made by WA artists, listen in as an original soundscape unfolds with stories of movement and migration bringing an engaging new perspective to the city. CONFESSIONS OF A MAGICIAN Downstairs at The Maj, His Majesty’s Theatre, Perth Feb 13 - 17, 9:00pm, from $33 International performer Pierre Ulric is back following two sell out seasons at Fringe World to share his deepest and most absurd secrets. Magicians have always been hiding secrets and it’s time for this one to confess. Get ready to have your mind blown… metaphorically speaking of course! Thought-provoking theatre. Expect gobsmacking magic, comedy, audience participation and psychological ploys. DAO OF DYLAN Downstairs at The Maj, His Majesty’s Theatre, Perth Feb 13 - 17, 6:00pm, from $30 Nobel Prize winner for literature, Bob Dylan may be the most important songwriter of our time. In this historic collaboration, jazz/rock divas Monique Di Mattina and Rebecca Barnard bring their soulful interpretations of Dylan's most-loved tracks, picking lessons on life, love and laughs from the lyrics. Dylan fans will love this historic collaboration. FRINGE DESTINATIONS THE PLEASURE GARDENS Home to the famous Fringe Mermaids, big top and multiple Spiegletents. THE ICE CREAM FACTORY This brand new venue makes its Fringe debut in 2018. Just around the corner from The Pleasure Garden, this pop-up is home to the best summer parties! FRINGE CENTRAL See Perth Cultural Centre transform into the heart of Fringe Festival, jam-packed with food and bars. This pocket features box offices along with The Showman's Fair, a mini-festival from the Netherlands with music, dining and a silent disco with a twist.
