What better way to enjoy a film set in a prison than by watching it inside Fremantle's very own, very historic, prison?
A brand new pop-up cinema experience, Prison Cinema is coming to the historic courtyard at Fremantle Prison, presenting a fantastic program of the most iconic prison-themed films. Launching on January 12 and running up until February 7 in 2021, it's set to be an incredibly immersive viewing experience.
With films screening every Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, visitors can choose from a specially curated program of prison classics such as The Shawshank Redemption, The Great Escape and Escape from Alcatraz.
At the cinema, you'll find a fully-licensed bar, as well as an array of delicious cinema snack food options. Movie-lovers are encouraged to come early to secure a good spot, and have a few drinks as the sun goes down. There will also be live music performances from local acts to keep you entertained before the film begins.
Premium tickets are also available and include a fold-up chair and premium viewing position. If you really want to get into the spirit of things and make most of your time at the prison, there will also be Prison tours running for an additional cost.
Otherwise, bring your seats and a picnic hamper and settle in for an evening of truly atmospheric film appreciation.
