In collaboration with the City of Vincent, Revelation Film Festival has revealed three new film projects as part of the City of Vincent Film Project, the only initiative of its kind in Australia.
The project offers filmmakers of a non-fiction short film a grant of $9,500, comprised of cash, camera equipment and venue support, with the chief requirement being that the film must be set in and around the City of Vincent.
The initiative serves as a platform to capture the City’s spirit and encourage new filmmakers, with the films produced as part of the project screening at Revelation Film Festival in July each year, and some going on to screen internationally to critical acclaim.
“Being part of the City of Vincent Film Project is one of the great joys for all of us at Rev,” said Festival Director Richard Sowada.

Previous films have explored topics such as unique architecture in the City, lively music venues and iconic local landmarks like the Re Store and North Perth Town Hall. Others have delved into the challenges faces by queer people in nuclear families, or the impact of the housing crisis.
“We are incredibly lucky to have such a rich tapestry of people and families living in Vincent,” said City of Vincent Mayor Alison Xamon. “The Film Project offers a powerful way to honour and share the stories that connect our community.”
The 2026 City of Vincent Film Project titles are:
In A Sentimental Mood
Aron Attiwell (Producer), Saskia Glass (Director/Writer)
A sanctuary for anyone seeking connection through sound, a place where music becomes colour and instruments are intimate. “In a Sentimental Mood” documents the Ellington Jazz Club through a journey of synaesthesia to visually realise the magic of experiencing live music up close, and how vital small venues are to our community.

Hip-E Club: The Beat Goes On
Lucy Nicol (Producer), Sanja Katich (Director/Writer)
Since 1988, Leederville’s iconic Hip-E Club has spread the love with peace, cool vibes and timeless music. After nearly 40 years, founder John ‘JA’ Anderson is preparing to pass on the reins to his godson, Ben Maher. JA hopes his enduring legacy will see Hip-E Club’s beat go on for years to come.

To Be Proud
Theresa Roberts (Producer), Jasmine Formato (Director/Writer)
To Be Proud is a heartfelt exploration of Irish culture in the City of Vincent, weaving together stories of connection, homesickness, humour and pride to reveal how community becomes a vital anchor for those living far from home.

The films will be screened at a special gala during the annual Revelation Perth International Film Festival at Luna Cinemas Leederville; 8 – 19 July, 2026.
