Whether you are just finishing work or looking for ideas for your next night out, the city breweries are always a great option to visit all year round. Here are three of the best, from local fan favourites, SA imports and fantastic fruity fusions.

Island Brew House, Elizabeth Quay

Facing the Perth skyline sits the recently renovated and restored Florence Hummerston building, now home to the Island Brew House. This quaint, historical venue was moved to the waterfront when Elizabeth Quay was developed in 2018. As the name suggests, the brewery offers outstanding 360-degree vistas of the marina, the City, Kings Park and the Swan River. It’s the perfect place for an after-work sundowner.

From pipe to pint, you can see the six 1200L vats that store their craft brews above the bar, including the Little Island Pale Ale and Craggy Brown Ale. In addition to their brilliant beers, The Island menu showcases seasonally inspired dishes with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating to suit your mood or occasion. It’s a great place to take the weight off after a family day out in the city, as The Island hosts a pirate playground to keep the little ones entertained.

Pop in from 5pm to 6pm on weekdays and enjoy happy hour with 50% of all tap beer and wines. Keep an eye on their social media for events and happenings on the beautiful Swan River. Bookings are available to sit and dine in, or walk-in for relaxed service and drinks.

The brewery is open from 11:30am to late, Monday to Friday, and 11am to late on weekends.

Pirate Life, Perth CBD

Pirate Life is an Adelaide import and the largest brewpub in Perth’s CBD. Located in the old Sony Centre on Murray Street and part of the Sneakers & Jeans group, the brewery joins an armada of spectacular venues bringing great beer, casual fine dining and an in-house brewing experience to the city.

Beers include Pirate Life’s core range, the iconic South Coast Pale Ale and the exclusive Sneakers & Jeans Apple and Guava Sour, both come highly recommended. TOMA, Pirate Life’s fine dining restaurant, offers its finest brews and over 120 local and international wines, paired with local WA seafood and steak for a fine dining experience in a relaxed, industrial-chic inspired setting.

Opening hours are Tuesday and Wednesday from 12pm – 10pm, and Thursday to Saturday 12pm – 12am.

Northbridge Brewing Co, Northbridge

If you’re looking for a spacious venue with a lively atmosphere, the Northbridge Brewing Co (NBC to locals) is the CBD brewery experience for you. With three stories of drinking space, including an extensive Skydeck with views over the city, a balcony overlooking the Piazza, and several al-fresco areas – there is room here for everyone.

Located in the heart of the entertainment district, NBC is the perfect place to go catch up with friends or to pop in pre or post an event. The team is dedicated to serving amazing appetizers and a strong variety of bold international and local brews.

Their Beerland classics offer a rotation of popular seasonal brews, their range is extensive and ever-changing. Producing over 50 seasonal small batches, collecting 23 Australian International Beer Awards to date, with mainstays including an IPA and James Street Juice, both fan favourites.

Northbridge Brewing opens Wednesday to Sunday, 11am to late.
