Perth’s newest bar is set to officially open this weekend with a celebratory Sunday session like no other.
This Sunday (Aug 13) sees the official opening of The Resident in Nedlands, the latest food and drink establishment to hit Perth's vibrant pub scene. Run by restauranteur Matthew Barge in conjunction with owner Donnacha Reidy and head chef Grant Grayling, the Hampden Road venue looks set to become a popular spot. Matthew said, ‘We wanted to bring something unique to the bar scene in Perth, so we like to call this the anti-pub. We’ve planned a more health-conscious offering when it comes to food and drink, and wines will come from a rotating list of boutique wineries that have a natural and organic focus.’ The bar will also mainly serve local WA beers and ciders, as well as a cocktails and a ‘bar sustainability program’ that includes recycling and repurposing waste to ensure maximum ecological sustainability. The two-level interior has been designed to have a ‘stripped back’ feel, with an outdoor terrace and a ‘Boab Tree’ garden providing outdoor spaces for the warmer months. It’s not just about the food and drink, The Resident will also host a number of events over the coming months, so watch this space for more information on Sunday sessions, after-work specials and weekend brunches. The Resident is at 156 Hampden Road, Nedlands.
