With Summer in full swing, there’s nothing better than a cold beer to stifle the heat! Here’s Scoops guide to some of the best beer gardens to enjoy with your pals this summer.
Perth, a beach town at heart, tends to come alive in the Summer. The breeze is warm, the sun is out, and the air is salty, which means one thing… it’s time for a nice cold beer! And where could be better than an outdoor beer garden?
Lucky for us Perthians, there are many beer gardens to choose from – but this also means the best ones can be hard to find. To help you plan your next afternoon sesh, we’ve made a list of popular beer gardens close to the city centre.
Belgian Beer Cafe
Situated on busy King Street, the Belgian Beer Cafe is hard to miss. Featuring distinct 1930’s European-pub-style architecture, a huge selection of acclaimed Belgian beers and of course a stunning covered beer garden, it’s a popular spot for smoko breaks and afterwork gatherings. Check out their courtyard for a afternoon beer or some delicious pub grub!
The Garden
True to its name, The Garden is the beer garden of the heritage-listed, historic Leederville Hotel. An icon of the inner-city bar scene, this venue has been around for over a decade and is showing no sign of slowing down. Showcasing an array of Australian craft beers, this is the perfect place to indulge with your favourite local brew.
The Standard
Although The Standard is primarily a bar and kitchen, the beer garden out back is the real show stopper. Its outdoor area boasts a two-tier upstairs deck (hello city views!) and a hole-in-the-wall bar, decked out with colourful plants and fairy lights. The best part? They do a ‘Lazy Sunday’ lunch special, featuring a shared platter of goodies inspired by a different culture each Sunday. Served on a typical Aussie lazy susan, this is the perfect spot for a Sunday catch up with mates.
Windsor Hotel’s Garden Bar
Located in the backyard of the heritage listed Windsor Hotel, this bar is home to Ogdens brewery, which means delicious beers straight from the source! Plus, they serve Espresso Martinis on tap and have an $8 cocktail menu… Need we say more?
PICA Bar
Nestled behind the Perth Cultural Centre is PICA Bar, a cosy beer garden and bar attached to the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts. The bar tends to attract artistic types and is renowned for its inclusivity of people from all communities. Picnic-style tables and benches replace the typical small bar tables, encouraging punters to chat to each other and extend the community vibe.
