Whether you’re a spicy fan or after a classic or Tommy’s, International Margarita Day is approaching to quench your cocktail thirst across iconic Perth venues.

Tequila, lime juice, triple sec, and of course a salt rim, all shaken up by the best of the best. Innovative flavour combinations paired with high-quality bites make these spots worth the visit in celebration of one of the world’s most beloved cocktails.

La Cholita

Northbridge

If you’ve ever been on the lookout for authentic and top-notch Mexican fare in Perth, you’ve absolutely been suggested a trip to La Cholita.

Located in Northbridge, this venue is the first thing on anyone’s mind when looking for a genuine Mexican menu, and with authentic Mexican cooking comes an authentic (and delicious) margarita.

180 bottles of tequila are on offer, with knowledgeable staff to guide you in the right direction if you’d like to order off-menu. Otherwise, six signature margs lead the way a classic, a Tommy’s (agave replaces triple sec), and their celebrated Spicy Margarita Verde give us what we know and love, and the Coconut, Tamarind and Margarita Frambuesa (containing raspberries and mandarin liqueur) round out the offerings for those of us reaching out of our comfort zone.

Brookfield Place, Perth CBD

Only open for a couple weeks, this new underground tequila bar had a lot to prove on the margarita front, joining a host of other Brookfield Place venues serving cocktails until late but they’ve come out swinging.

This one is fit for all partygoers, but a must-stop for tequila fans. In terms of margaritas, the classic and Tommy’s are joined by a refreshing mandarin offering with Aperol. Over 50 bottles are included on their agave menu, so there are options upon options to explore.

Neighbouring Japanese restaurant Papi Katsu won’t disappoint you either, especially considering the venue has acknowledged Margarita Month with three Tommy’s specials: calamansi, strawberry & mint, and spicy mango.

Caballitos

Perth CBD

Ever heard of a unicorn marg? Caballitos has geared up for the February margarita festivities with a truly unique offering to add to their menu, joining the likes of perfected classic margaritas.

With daily specials like $5 Taco Tuesdays, Caballitos is the perfect environment to catch up with a cocktail and maybe get a little rowdy later on. The unicorn marg is glittery, pink and topped with fairy floss for a sweet twist on our favourite salt rim. The sun-kissed margarita is another highlight, combining grapefruit and orange liqueurs, plus mango and pineapple jarabe.

La Cabaña

Fremantle

Head to Freo for this tequila haven, which has confirmed plans in the pipeline for an extra-special Margarita Day celebration – we’ll keep refreshing their Insta in anticipation!

Great value share plates with lots of gluten-free and vegetarian options, with the hand-crushed potatoes and chargrilled corn tentacles as highlights amongst the Mexican-inspired menu. Western Australian takes on ceviche and tacos are best paired with their frozen margaritas made with seasonal fruit, classic recipe margs, and a fan-favourite coconut and pineapple version that hits the spot on a hot day. A whole page on the drinks menu dedicated to just tequila and mezcal lets you know La Cabaña means business.
