Whether you enjoy a classic vanilla shake or a fancier shake with sprinkles, cream or a donut on top (or even something boozy), Perth is home to some of the best milkshakes around. Here’s our run-down on where to try your next magical milkshake.
Café 2 Twenty Four
Belmont
If you’re craving a big, bold shake, Café 2 Twenty Four is the place to go. This Belmont café offers Super and Mega shakes, in familiar fan-favourite flavours like Snickers, Golden Gaytime and TimTam. Their Snickers Super Shake is not to be missed, with whipped cream drizzled with chocolate sauce, nuts, and wafer rolls. Café 2 Twenty Four is pet friendly too, so feel free to bring your pooch along too. Open seven days a week for breakfast and lunch.
Milky Lane
Elizabeth Quay
You can’t get much better than a classic burger and shake combination at Milky Lane in Elizabeth Quay. They offer classic milkshakes and Loaded Signature Thick Shakes. Famous for turning people’s favourite sweet treats into drinks, Milky Lane has done the same with their loaded shakes: flavours include Crunchie, Bueno, Mint Aero, Caramilk and Biscoff and all come stacked with toppings galore. In addition to these, Milky Lane has a monthly special menu serving limited edition shakes to die for.
Whisk Creamery
Subiaco and Northbridge
When visiting Whisk Creamery, their freakshakes are a must-try. The ever-impressive Cronutella is a chocolate and hazelnut milkshake, topped with their homemade Croinut (that’s a super-delicious croissant donut for the uninitiated!) . Their other freakshakes are dessert themed, with Raspberry Cheesecake, Vanilla Slice and Choc Brownie always popular. All toppings are hand-made in house. Whisk Creamery has locations in Subiaco and Northbridge, and is open until late all week long.
The Moon
Northbridge
This late-night Northbridge restaurant adds a splash of booze to the classic style milkshake. The Moon‘s Alco-shakes deliver five unique milkshake flavours (with two vegan options on offer) so the grown-ups can enjoy their shake too. Their Cherry Ripe Alco-shake is a must-try for fans of the candy bar, blended with Cherry Heering, house-made vegan coconut ice cream and almond milk. Their menu also offers non-alcoholic classic shakes and a house special, the Doom Shake: blended mud cake and ice cream with cream and cherries for the sweet tooth diner. Open until midnight all week, and 1am during the weekend.
Varsity Burgers
Various locations
Varsity Burgers is a popular joint for burger lovers and students alike – and their American-influenced milkshakes are hard to beat. Served in Pyrex jugs, these shakes are perfect for sharing (or not, we don’t judge!) and come in three sizes, from 250ml to 1L. Varsity offers both Classic Shakes and Fancy Shakes. Their Peanut Butter Jelly Cup Fancy Shake is a crowd pleaser, mixed with Reese’s Puffs Cereal and Peanut Butter Cups. There is also an option to mix any shakes with booze for a cheeky treat at an extra cost. Check in at each location for opening times.
