It’s that time of year where Mother’s Day sneaks up on us all, leaving us with a rush-around for price-inflated flowers, mugs and chocolate. Why not go for something a little more sophisticated this year with a high or afternoon tea?
These sessions have it all – upscale dining, delicious pastries, champagne, cocktails and time to laugh and sip tea (the literal kind and the gossip kind!). Check out the most celebrated venues in Perth for a fancy afternoon that will impress Mum.

Cape Arid Rooms
Perth CBD
Located in the south-eastern wing of the State Buildings, the Cape Arid Rooms host the celebrated COMO The Treasury’s afternoon tea.
Artfully crafted with a considered menu inspired by Western Australia’s native produce, Cape Arid is considered the best of the best when it comes to tea sessions in Perth. On the afternoon tea menu, you’ll find Blue Swimmer crab with creme fraiche and finger lime, or a green apple and wattleseed cream mille-feuille as representative of both the decadence of the offerings, and the locality!
All the teas served have been curated in collaboration with WA brand Teassential, and cocktails are mixed with Horizon Gin, brewed in partnership with Esperance Distillery Co. WA’s native produce meets afternoon tea excellence.

Chapels on Whatley
Maylands
Specialising in tea and Eurasian fusion cuisine, Chapels on Whatley’s high tea is celebrated for its value, atmosphere, and delicious menu.
With two options in the Traditional High Tea and the Diamond High Tea, guests can choose whether or not they keep their high tea lowkey, if they celebrate a bit more with unlimited champagne and a cocktail on arrival.
Both offerings include house-crafted sweet and savoury treats, finger sandwiches and scones with preserves, all served with Royal Albert and Royal Doulton fine bone China.
The tea itself is a major draw, even if you’re not looking to enjoy the high tea options – over 200 blends are offered, encompassing five main types in black, green, oolong, white and herbal teas.

C Restaurant
Perth CBD
The high tea offered at C Restaurant isn’t just lauded for their tea and petit fours, but for the panoramic views offered by the prime location atop St. Martins Tower on Saint Georges Terrace.
With packages ranging from Classic, offering all the desserts and bite-sized savouries plus bottomless tea and coffee, to the Premium Bottomless Louis Roederer High Tea, where you’ll add two hours of endless glasses of the famous champagne to the Classic package, there is something to fit every occasion.

Mrs Rabbit Tearooms
Henley Brook
If you’re up for a trip to the Swan Valley to make Mum’s day extra special, Mrs Rabbit Tearooms is a must-visit.
Whimsy and homely aesthetics combine in the gorgeous interior of the 1950s cottage, with outdoor seating under their ficus tree and private dining rooms being highlights. The high tea sessions allow visitors to try the best Mrs Rabbit has to offer for great value, with tea sandwiches, sweets and scones on the menu, alongside your choice of bottomless loose leaf tea.
Bring your own bubbles for a corkage fee and spend a day in the sunlit grounds for an afternoon you’ll be dreaming of coming back to.

Haven Lounge at The Westin
Perth CBD
The celebrated high tea at Haven Lounge puts a seasonal twist on the classic arrangement, changing up their menu every couple of months just to keep us coming back for more.
Running from February and closing up last week, their Amalfi Coast-inspired high tea offering included Amalfi cocktails, paired with tiramisu scones with marscapone cream, Aperol spritz panna cotta, chocolate and pistachio cannolis amongst other Italian flavours.
The next seasonal menu is named the ‘Pink High Tea,’ where the sweet and savoury bites featured trend pink – think strawberry jam, rose opera cake, berry scones, sundried tomato bread and prawn cocktails.
One thing that never changes season to season – the high quality. Haven retains constant high praise from visitors, with the artistry behind each tiered high tea platter making each spread almost too pretty to eat.
