Whether it’s fresh-cooked beef, succulent samgyeopsal pork belly, or crunchy kimchi that takes your fancy, Korean BBQ is the perfect meal to share around the table. Perth has some fantastic Korean BBQ spots, and here are our picks of the best.
Ssam
Victoria Park
Fresh, well-prepared vegetables and prime cuts of meat make Ssam a stand-out KBBQ restaurant, in the heart of Victoria Park. Offering meat by the plate or combinations for those looking to try a variety, the interactive grill-it-yourself Korean barbecue experience is perfectly matched by the side-dishes that come free with every order. We recommend the premium Wagyu short rib beef and the samgyeopsal pork belly – perfect made into a ssam lettuce wrap and eaten hot. Open for lunch and dinner, every day.
The Bite
Northbridge
A family-run restaurant that serves comfort food, Korean-style, The Bite Bar and Bistro is a hidden gem on Northbridge’s Aberdeen Street. Be welcomed in to a cozy venue and try traditional Korean food and drinks, from meat to grill yourself to the ultimate fan favourite – spicy cream cheese chicken. They also offer a huge variety of flavoured Korean soju to accompany the meal – full bellies and good times guaranteed. Open from 5:30pm to late, Tuesday to Sunday.
Palsaik
Northbridge
Palsaikis one of Perth’s most popular places for a Korean barbecue feast. Each order is accompanied with over ten side-dishes, and the servings are generous (and delicious!). The beef flank skirt and marinated pork are staple favorites, and the soju-based cocktail selection is a delicious and fun way to finish off a meal. If barbecue isn’t your scene, then there’s also a delicious range of Korean-style fried chicken on offer. Spots book fast, so be sure to make a reservation. Open 5pm until late, Tuesday to Sunday.
Marubang
Perth
A must-visit if you enjoy pork and seafood, Marubang boasts a delicious traditional menu, alongside some fantastic additions for the more adventurous eater, like pigs’ trotters (a Korean favourite), jellyfish, sea-snail and octopus. Located in Northbridge and open until late, Marubang is the perfect spot for a meal before hitting the town for drinks. Closed Wednesdays, but open from 5pm Thursday through Tuesday.
Arirang
Perth
Korean BBQ legends, Arirang, have a 22-year legacy of creating delicious Korean eats in Perth, with a main store in Perth’s CBD and branches across the city. With BBQ sets that allow you to enjoy meat, fresh vegetables, dumplings and side-dishes, and fried chicken and hearty soups on the side, Arirang is definitely a fan favourite. Try their traditional Korean patbingsu shaved ice desert for the ideal sweet treat after your meal, perfect with a glass of soju or beer. Arirang is open seven days a week, for lunch and dinner.
