Perth's new bottled cocktail scene is flourishing, here are the best ones

This weekend calls for a toast to our new found freedom and right to hang out with up to ten people at once (socially distanced, of course). What better way to celebrate than with home delivered cocktails? Sure, you’ve had a good month to master your own margarita skills, but sometimes it’s best to call the experts and in this case, a chance to support our friends in hospitality. Here’s a round up of the best Perth cocktails now available for take away or delivery.

Mayfair Lane Margarita

Owners Foni and Chris are wine and spirits royalty in Perth’s hospitality scene, known for their highly curated international drinks list. Foni was The West Good Food Guide Sommelier of the Year in 2019. For our home enjoyment, they have bottled up their house-style margaritas and other favourites, such as their Espresso Martini and Negroni. These come in either 250ml jars of pre-mixed cocktail, or 3 separate jars of the ingredients which you can shake or mix up yourself at home. Each kit comes with step by step instructions so you don't have to be a top drinks slinger to enjoy. If you don't have your own cocktail shaker, any tightly closed flask will do (just make sure it's really, really secure)! Their mini Aperol Spritz kit offers great value too, allowing you to enjoy the world’s most recognisable cocktail without having to commit to full bottles of all the elements. You can order online here and the team will deliver free anywhere in the Perth metro area, or you can walk in and pick them up. They are open Wed - Thursday from noon, and in the evenings on weekends.

Foxtrot Unicorn Originals Four Pack

Here’s a hack for how to serve up a mind blowing and different cocktail for each person at your table with no effort - call your mates at Foxtrot Unicorn. This relative newcomer to Perth’s (normally) burgeoning cocktail bar scene have bottled up a selection of classics with an edge like their Honeycomb Old Fashioned and Pineapple Negroni. Importantly during times like these when local industries need the extra boost, the team at Foxtrot like to use locally made, WA spirits wherever they can such as gin from Old Youngs Distillery here in the Swan Valley. If you just want to go for one, Dimitri, owner of Foxtrot Unicorn, recommends either the Honeycomb Old Fashioned (their highest selling drink) or the Banana Boulevardier. These come in single-serve, 100ml bottles. You'll probably want to grab a couple though... They are available through their online store and they'll deliver anywhere throughout Perth.

Lucky Chan’s Coconut Pandan Negroni

This Northbridge institution reopened last night for takeaway and our eyes fell immediately upon their 'canned' cocktail selection. Here’s a tip; one of the owners is a very experienced spirits educator, so they know how to get creative! Owner Adam recommends you try either the Salted Caramel Old Fashioned, or the Coconut Pandan Negroni. The latter goes perfectly with their popcorn chicken - which you can also order to go. They'll also be doing their incredibly popular alcoholic Bubble Tea cocktails, so loyal fans can rest easy. To order, just call up or order online and they will deliver within a 3km radius. Anyone who comes in to pick up their cocktails gets a spin of their wheel of fortune, with prizes including free prawn crackers, a lucky dip, and a bottle of bubbly. Lucky Chan's are open from Tuesday through to Saturday, 5pm - 8pm during the week and until 9pm weekends.

The Moon Long Island Iced Tea

The Moon was your sanctuary during student days and those nostalgic comforts are exactly what we need right now. A Long Island Iced Tea isn’t difficult to make, but The Moon was always the place you could get a cocktail with maximum bang for buck, so in appreciation, we have added them to the list. In addition to the classics, a selection of rather adventurous cocktails is also available; Fairy Bread Martini with ice cream and sprinkles, anyone? The team recommend the Espresso Martini, because who doesn't love the winning combo of caffeine and alcohol? These come in handy little mason jars, which act as a one-and-done cocktail shaker - just give a good shake and you're good to go! You can order over the phone, or come in person to pick them up.
