We know what you’re thinking: why eat at the hotel when there are more restaurants in WA than you can shake a fork at? These hotel restaurants are so tasty, visitors (and locals) have good reason to tuck in before they’re tucked in – all without leaving the building.

1. 150 East

Forget what you think you know about the riverside restaurant at Assured Ascot Quays. Its new executive chef – former head chef at the Boulevard Hotel, Andrew Dunn – has dropped the prices and pretention, offering Modern Australian fare with a decidedly Italian spin. 150 Great Eastern Highway, Ascot.

2. Adelphi Grill

Open three meals a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, Adelphi Grill at Parmelia Hilton Perth has one of the busiest kitchens in Perth. Nab a spot at the Chef's Table for a front row seat to watch head chef Chad Miskiewicz in action – if you're lucky, you'll walk away with the secrets to his restaurant's signature dish, the Fiery Fillet. 14 Mill Street, Perth.

3. The Best Brew Bar & Kitchen

The west end of the CBD doesn't have many options when it comes to dining and drinking, so when an event is on at Perth Arena, The Four Points by Sheraton Perth gets packed to the gills. After all, it's located across the street. There's nowhere better for a pre- or post-event beer on the outdoor terrace. 707 Wellington Street, Perth.

4. Cott & Co Fish Bar

True to its name, Cott & Co Fish Bar's menu is seafood-dominated, paired with largely Italian ingredients (prosciutto, mozzarella, polenta) and a smattering of Japanese (soy, bonito flakes) and Middle Eastern (za'atar spices, preserved lemon) for good measure. No wonder it's the Cottesloe Beach Hotel's most popular restaurant. Plus it all tastes even better with those Indian Ocean views. 104 Marine Parade, Cottesloe.

5. Firewater Grille

Forget lunch or dinner. The Firewater Grille at the Duxton Hotel Perth is home to one of the city's best high teas. Loose-leaf tea (or a cheeky champers) is paired with a huge selection of food such as tea sandwiches, scones and petit fours. 1 St Georges Terrace, Perth.

6. Foragers

A lush forest setting, cosy long-table dining, and rustic fare cooked with produce from neighbouring Pemberton farms is what's on offer at celebrity chef Sophie Zalokar's award-winning restaurant. Staying in one of the property's gorgeous eco chalets is a must. Lot 1 Roberts Road, Pemberton.

7. Mantaray's Restaurant

While Exmouth isn't exactly known as a gastronomical hotspot, the restaurant at Novotel Ningaloo Reef does a fine job of showing off local produce like Exmouth prawns and Lyndon Station beef. It whips up some pretty exceptional desserts, too. Madaffari Drive, Exmouth.

8. The Old Crow

Ok, the Southern American-influenced restaurant (serving the best soul food in town) might be a couple of years old, but the boutique hotel that opened behind it, The Nest on Newcastle, is brand spanking new and worth a night's stay. 172 Newcastle Street, Perth.

9. Shadow Wine Bar

Just a few short years ago, the idea of staying the night in Northbridge would have appealed to few other than cash-strapped backpackers. But the once-seedy suburb has since gone through a renaissance, thanks to the smattering of new small bars and funky eateries. Joining the ranks is the Alex Hotel and its visit-worthy Shadow Wine Bar. Cool cats only. 50 James Street, Perth.

10. The Terrace Hotel

Beneath the 15 plush rooms of the swanky Terrace Hotel lies a beautiful bar and restaurant, where diners feast on Coffin Bay oysters and soft shell crab, surrounded by Tamara de Lempicka prints hanging from heritage-listed walls. It's so opulent you'll want to dress for the occasion. 237 St Georges Terrace, Perth.
