With the arrival of spring, Perth’s events calendar is coming to life with things to do in every category, whether it’s arts and culture-based, or an opportunity to explore Perth’s natural attractions. With over 300 events on our guide for September, there’s never a dull moment for the month, where we’re encouraged to head outdoors, engage with the community and invest in our local arts institutions.

Spring Arts and Culture Festivals
There are a few arts festivals coming up in September that gather the community to celebrate local artists and share ideas, making for a month where creativity is uplifted and made space for.
Make/shift Festival is a brand-new event focusing on ‘future-making,’ where conversations, exhibitions and performances highlight the agency behind a sustainable society, while Melville Storylines Festival packs 20 events into a 10-day program that champions storytelling in all its forms – think documentaries, workshops, artist talks and more.
The Perth Moon & Lantern Festival lands at Shoppe on Langely Park on Sunday, September 20, where you’ll find live music, DIY lantern painting, and artisan markets. You won’t want to miss the food markets either, with sizzling street food, dim sum and sweet stalls serving exclusive festival flavours for the occasion.
Performing Arts
There are over 30 shows on offer this month that put the spotlight on Perth’s creatives and arts institutions.
International smash-hit musical &Juliet kicks off at the Regal Theatre on Friday, September 11, combining the music of Max Martin (Britney Spears, The Backstreet Boys, Katy Perry) with an empowering storyline about carving your own path.
Come From Away also opens on Friday, September 11, this time at Koorliny Arts Centre, returning for a special encore season after an award-winning run in 2024.
For dance, the West Australian Ballet returns with Macbeth on Friday, September 4, a new contemporary ballet that retells the classic Shakespeare play through the lens of media and boardroom drama.
S&R Orchard Blossom Festival
September 5 – 20
One of Perth’s most highly anticipated spring events is back for 2026 for three short weeks!
Each day, S&R Orchard in Walliston opens its gates to visitors to enjoy the orchard in full bloom – we’d head to the ferris wheel for the best vantage point. With props and displays overflowing with flowers scattered through the orchard rows, the location is incredibly popular as a spot for photo-ops.
The Blossom Festival guarantees a gorgeous day out with the family, as the blooms aren’t the only attraction on offer – food vendors and market stalls, free tractor rides and animal encounters are available from open to close.
Father’s Day
September 6
Perth’s bars, pubs and restaurants have shown out this year, making Dad’s Day a highlight for anyone who loves an exclusive dining experience or even just catching up with family in the sunshine with a good meal.

Everlasting Kings Park Festival
September 18 – October 4
The annual Everlasting Kings Park Festival returns to celebrate the stunning biodiversity Perth and Western Australia have to offer.
Throughout the festival, thousands of wildflowers and plant species will be on display, with workshops, displays, guided walks and talks all about flowers, ecology, arts and gardening making up the full program.
During September, it’s the perfect time to take a wildflower spring tour from Kings Park, where you’ll head out for the day with a guide to tour the Kings Park wildflowers, followed by a stop at the scenic Djidi Djidi Ridge in Chittering Valley, the canola fields in the Shire of Victoria Plains, and the historic township of New Norcia for a three-course meal and local wine.
If you’re keen to head further outside Perth, a trip to the Great Southern in September would be a highlight for any nature lover. Bloom Festival runs from September 12 to October 11, with a program of wildflower events, workshops, displays and guided walks that stretch from Kojonup through to Mountain Country and Bremer Bay.
