What if Romeo’s ending was Juliet’s beginning? This September, WAAPA brings the international smash-hit musical that rewrites Juliet’s story to the Regal Theatre.
&Juliet, performed by WAAPA’s graduating Musical Theatre students and directed by visiting UK guest director Alastair Knight, runs from Friday, September 11 to Thursday, September 17, for six performances only. The students will be accompanied by an orchestra of WAAPA Music Students, with Production and Design Students providing the sets, costumes, lighting, sound, and backstage crew.
The coming-of-age jukebox musical reimagines Shakespeare’s classic tragedy as an empowering journey of female self-discovery – fun, flashy and full of heart. The story’s Juliet ditches her famous ending for a fresh beginning and a second chance at life and love.

With a hilarious script by the Emmy-winning writer of Schitt’s Creek, David West Read and songs from the catalogue of Grammy-winning Swedish powerhouse songwriter and producer Max Martin, this musical remains hilarious and inspiring while amping up the audience with beloved pop anthems.
The playlist of 30 sing-a-longable bangers includes chart toppers made famous by the likes of Britney Spears, The Backstreet Boys, Katy Perry and more, all from the late 90s and 2000s – think Since U Been Gone, Roar, Baby One More Time, Larger Than Life, That’s The Way It Is, and Can’t Stop The Feeling!
Guaranteed to have you singing and dancing in your seat, &Juliet proves there’s life after Romeo. Don’t miss this celebration of pop classics complete with dynamic choreography and an empowering storyline.
&Juliet performs at the Regal Theatre from Friday, September 11 to Thursday, September 19. Tickets are on sale now from regaltheatre.com.au
