10 days of exhibitions, conversations, tours, workshops, films and open studios will take place across Fremantle for the 2026 Fremantle Design Week.
Running from Friday, October 16, to Sunday, October 25, the biennial Fremantle Design Week gathers the city’s architects, interior designers, makers and creatives with some of Australia’s leading design voices, hosting over 60 events (many of which are free) across the program under the theme ‘imagine.’
The festival’s inaugural year in 2022 marked the first design week in Perth and Western Australia, and has now established itself as an anticipated event in the arts community. Fremantle Design Week is a walkable festival, meaning visitors are invited to make a day of heading out in the port city and discovering the different events between the streets, restaurants, bars and hotels.
The opening-night exhibition Imagine: Material Stories is a highlight, celebrating Western Australia’s leadership in regenerative textiles by showcasing materials like recovered Kimberley cotton and regeneratively farmed merino wool as furniture and fashion. Other features include interior design exhibition Reverie at The Naval Store, From Lawn to Living – A Native Verge Walking Tour with Valley Verges, the Maker’s Film Festival 2026, and Cakemantle: An Exhibition of Cakes of Fremantle at Udla.
Conversations, workshops, exhibitions, open studios, walking tours and craft classes also make up the wider festival program.
