After 6 months of planning, Swan Valley Station is set to open on Monday June 1, just in time for the public holiday. A café, garden store and gift store selling local produce along Forest Road in Henley Brook, the venue is set to be a great stop off point for families making a day trip out of the city. Following a five-year search for the perfect property, owner Jon Jessop and his family made the move from Mount Lawley to the Swan Valley last year, with the aim of offering a family-friendly, all-inclusive experience. With a beautiful veranda spilling onto the green lawn, overlooking the vines at The Wine Place, it’s a must-visit for anyone who loves a drive into the Valley. The Station’s central location in Henley Brook means it’s well-situated for anyone looking to visit iconic vineyards such as Ugly Duckling, Lancaster Wines, or the chocolate factory just down the road. The kids will be captivated by the farm animals, including two friendly donkeys, residing in the rustic stables at the property’s entrance. For anyone interested, Jon and the team will take you behind the scenes of farm operations such as pasture egg production and an aquaculture yabby farm.
“We wanted to provide the full Swan Valley experience, where you can just sit down and relax for a little while in the Valley, taking in the views across the vineyards,” Jon said.
On the opening day, you’ll be able to enjoy locally roasted coffee and freshly baked cakes, with the café then opening for light meals Thursdays through to Sundays. Initially, the café will be limited to 20 people max in line with COVID-19 restrictions. To satisfy your inner gourmand, the store stocks local WA honey made from Jarrah and Marri trees, olives and olive oil from the Gingin region, chutney and relishes from Denmark, plus a selection of giftware including handmade soaps, candles and bath bombs. You can unleash your inner green thumb too, by visiting their garden store, where a range of ceramic pots, WA made fertiliser and a tonne of plants, including popular cottage plants, will be available for you to take home. Open from 9am – 4pm on Thursday to Sunday, including public holidays. Location: 60 Forest Road Henley Brook
