No need to find a babysitter next time you want a night out, we’ve got you covered with Perth’s most kid friendly restaurants.
NORTH OF THE RIVER
Jamie’s Italian
Kids’ menus presented on 1980s Viewfinders (remember them?) show that someone is really thinking about the little ones here. Combine that with a creative selection (such as ‘chicken lollipops’) and you’ve got a winner! 140 William Street, Perth CBD, 9363 8600.
Missy Moos
Both the north and south locations are very child-friendly, with chalkboards and astro-turfed areas. Choose an ‘Eeny Meeny’ mini burger – with good-quality meat, Margaret River relish and aioli – to educate their taste buds about how a burger should be. 148 Scarborough Beach Road, Mt Hawthorn, 9484 8590.
Bindoon Bakehaus
If the freshly baked goodies don’t win over the little ones, then the dedicated children’s area – complete with house-made play dough and a tiny kitchen – certainly will. 25 Binda Place, Bindoon, 9576 0069.
The Peasant’s Table
Kids go crazy for the Monday to Wednesday make-your-own pizza option – as well as the free babycinos – and, on Thursdays, children under eight eat for free. An awesome kids’ play area makes this place a hit for hungry parents, too. 148 Scarborough Beach Road, Mt Hawthorn, 9242 4297.
Clancy’s Fish Pub
Kids too antsy to dine in? Grab some takeaway fish and chips from Clancy’s and set up camp to drink up the epic views of City Beach – or let them run wild on the two playgrounds. City Beach, 9385 7555.
Naked Fig
Beachfront breakfasts don’t get much better than at the Naked Fig. The pancakes and banana smoothie from the kids’ menu are so good, you’ll be tempted to order them for yourself. 278 Marine Parade, Swanbourne, 9384 1222.
A Fish Called Inglewood
Sporting some pun-derful fish jokes, the fun-filled kids’ menu doubles as a creative canvas – the best artwork gets featured on the restaurant wall and Facebook page. The homemade ice-cream is also a hit. 882 Beaufort Street, Inglewood, 6101 4678.
SOUTH OF THE RIVER
Little Creatures
An outdoor sandpit with toys makes an afternoon at this brewery pleasant for the whole family. But beware: ‘Unattended children will be given an espresso and
a kitten’! Try the kids’ nachos for a fun treat. 40 Mews Road, Fremantle, 9430 5555.
Hoopla Espresso
A favourite for parent groups, Hoopla has a kids’ corner (with a small toy box and a low table for little diners), and Moresby Street Reserve across the road, which is home to a semi-enclosed playground. 8 Moresby Street, Kensington, 9474 6006.
Gooseberries Cafe
A separate kids’ playroom decked out with IKEA tunnels and tents makes it easy to enjoy a quiet (and consistently good) coffee. Kids love the single-serve pancake option. 78 Banksia Terrace, Kensington, 9474 2036.
Moore & Moore Cafe
A cute outdoor area (away from roads) with a plastic golf set-up makes this an ideal place for toddlers – and a Scrabble set entertains older kids on rainy days. Half-serves of dishes can be requested for smaller stomachs. 46 Henry Street, Fremantle, 9335 8825.
Ninniku Jip
Relaxed Japanese and Korean can be had here, while children play on a slide and cubby house in a separate kids’ room, behind glass. 867 Albany Highway, Victoria
Park, 9355 1988.
Salt on the Beach
This place has healthy options for kids’ meals (you can swap the standard fish and chips for grilled fish and veggies), as well as a free kids’ salad and a great enclosed playground. The kids’ menu comes on an activity sheet – so it ticks all the boxes! 42 Port Beach Road, North Fremantle, 9430 6866.
Walter’s River Cafe
Located on Point Walter Reserve, this cafe is excellent for parents keen to enjoy a relaxed meal while the kids go wild on the playground out front. Point Walter Reserve, Bicton, 9330 9330.
Deep Water Point Cafe
The sprawling lawn of this lovely riverfront cafe makes the perfect place for kids to burn off their babycinos. 100 The Esplanade, Mt Pleasant, 9316 8884.
