Perth’s up-and-coming creatives will host a contemporary music festival this October, putting together everything from the sound and lighting to the performance itself.

The inaugural Amped Up: WAAPA Contemporary Music Festival will consist of three cutting-edge concerts performed at ECU City’s SoundHouse on Wednesday, October 14, Thursday, October 15, and Saturday, October 17.

The 3rd Year Contemporary Music and Music Artist students will each present a 15-minute set, featuring a mix of original music and covers. The singers, artists and instrumentalists will have creativity at the heart of their performances as they prepare to graduate into the professional music scene.

Working behind the scenes will be WAAPA’s emerging Lighting, Sound and Arts Management students, transforming the performances into fully realised live experiences. The Arts Management students will provide support as band managers, organising schedules, technical requirements and promotion opportunities, while the Lighting and Sound students will focus on on-stage magic.

The next generation of emerging contemporary artists will showcase their talents in this truly multidisciplinary event, running for the first time in 2026.

Amped Up: WAAPA Contemporary Music Festival runs at SoundHouse, ECU City, on Wednesday, October 14, Thursday, October 15, and Saturday, October 17. Tickets are on sale at waapa.ecu.edu.au
