The City of Fremantle’s beloved winter arts festival 10 Nights in Port is set to return this August, inviting Perth to gather in Freo for ten nights of art, stories and experiences.
The 2026 festival will take place from Thursday, August 20 to Sunday, August 30, across Fremantle Town Hall, Victoria Hall, Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre and the WA Shipwrecks Museum, transforming the city with intimate performances and large-scale installations, promising visitors a city-wide trail of creativity.
10 Nights in Port evolved from the original Fremantle Festival, putting together an immersive and distinctly Freo program that celebrates the city’s creative energy.
This year’s theme is ‘huddle,’ drawing people to Fremantle to experience warmth and creating spaces that invite connection.
“At a time when so much of life happens online or in passing, shared experiences feel more important than ever,” said Creative Programs Lead at City of Fremantle, ‘Ofa Fotu. “And this year’s theme of ‘huddle’ is about creating those moments, whether around fire, inside an artwork, or simply enjoying our port city together.”
The full program spans visual art, performance, storytelling, and installation, brought to life through local artists. Highlights include Nullians, an exhibition of political cartoons from Australian Indigenous artist Kambarni, Train Kiln (Dragon Kiln), a large-scale, live-fired ceramic installation set to be ignited on opening night, and In The Block Universe, a multimedia installation of live music, film and 3D projection that results in a striking 360-degree holographic performance.
Other highlights include A Magical Guide to Fighting Fascism, a multilingual performance following three women across Chile, the UK and Australia from Asha Cleur, and The Genesis Project, a contemporary dance performance from Parkin Projects exploring monstrous female archetypes.
